FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

This page contains some of the most common questions people have before beginning a session. You’ll also find more resources on the Wisdom page, and you’re always welcome to reach out directly if you’d like to ask something personal or inquire further.
What happens in a typical session?
Each session is unique, guided by your body’s wisdom and the energy of the day and the season. We often start with Gongfu tea ceremony where you share what is happening in the season of your life. I listen with all of my senses to your share and then listen with my hands to your body. Taking into account any physical pain you are experiencing, I’ll do the most important bodywork starting from where your body tells me. I generally end with craniosacral and weave it throughout the structural work. Some sessions are less physical and we are working with energetics, ancestral healing, soul retrieval, etc. In this case the work can be received seated or laying on the table.
Do I need to prepare before my SESSION?
I appreciate folks arriving honestly in your natural state. The attitude of curiosity is a great foundation for work. Being hydrated helps the work, and being spacious with time after the session will allow for more of the work to stay with you and for the unfolding process that happens when fascia unwinds. It’s also best to arrive rested and free of drugs and alcohol for the 24 hours before the session. Some folks like to come in with an intention or a specific space to explore together, which I welcome as well.
How is shamanic healing different from traditional therapy or bodywork?
While therapy often focuses on the mind and bodywork on the physical body, shamanic healing invites spirit into the process. It works on all levels at once — body, mind, heart, and soul.
Will I need multiple sessions, or is one enough?
Most of the time, the patterns we are working with need tending over months to explore and unpack. While old patterns change, having sessions across time is helpful in bringing in what is a new and authentic pathway for you. Some people work with me monthly, some choose smaller amounts of time, for example a group of 3-5 sessions.
Do you offer remote/online sessions as well as in-person?
No. I currently offer in-person sessions only.
How long does a session last?
Most sessions last about 75–90 minutes.
Is this safe if I’m pregnant, grieving, or going through a major life transition?
Yes. Shamanic work and my styles of bodywork are gentle and will support you during tender and transformative times. I find the structural bodywork extremely useful when life is not flowing, when the path is not clear. This work can help you stay centered through a storm. If you are pregnant, there are certain modalities we avoid, and there is always room for blessing and craniosacral therapy (which the babies inside love!)
Can I combine this work with other healing modalities (EMDR, talk therapy, physical therapy, naturopahtic medicine, acupuncture, etc.)?
Absolutely. Shamanic healing and bodywork weave beautifully alongside other modalities and can support your existing practices and practitioners.
How do I know if this type of work is right for me?
If you feel drawn, curious, a sense of relief while reading this, or if you feel a little nervous but open, that’s often a sign this work may be calling you. Trust your intuition.
are there any contraindications for internal pelvic attunement?
This series is not indicated if you have active and acute vaginitis, cystitis, or endometriosis. For cases of long-term or quiet endometriosis this work can be very beneficial but needs to be done slowly. This series is not for women with acute reactivation of pelvic trauma or those are not receiving support for recent trauma. This work is also not for those seeking an outside “fix.” The work honors your capacity to meet yourself, with support, from within.
What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?
I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to reschedule or cancel, so that the time can be opened for others.
How should I integrate the healing after a session?
Rest, drink extra water, spend time in nature, or journal. Listen to your body and give yourself what you need, and the extra space to receive and integrate the work. After sessions that are shamanic and energetic, you can take an Epsom salt bath or scrub with salt in the shower. This is very helpful for a faster recovery and for further neutralizing the charge of the energies that were cleared.
